This project consists of a clear message clasped at eye-level to a chain-link fence surrounding an empty downtown site, which has been closed off for many years now, in order to delight and encourage the residents of this newly created Toronto neighbourhood, Cityplace. Cityplace has been panned by many critics throughout its design and construction for multiple reasons, including a lack of connection to the greater city, little retail and services for residents, and its predominant use of glass which will not offer longevity in our Canadian climate. But neighbourhoods take decades to form and Cityplace is still in its infancy. A message of “This is my neighbourhood (TIMN)” speaks to all residents to take ownership and pride in their community.

This project was a collaboration with Stacie Vos and Harim Labuschagne. Special thanks to our friend Felipe for documenting the project.
